These are of course all completely valid questions. The runaway success of next generation web ventures such as MySpace and Facebook have brought the concept of social networking into the mainstream. As with any idea that looks like it’s here to stay and, more importantly, looks like it could be a money spinner, the bandwagon hasn’t taken long to get hitched up and rolling. So why should this one be any different?

The answer lies in a fundamental shift in how we expect to receive, use and share information. Web 2.0, the next generation web, call it what you will but one thing is certain, a new wave of companies and applications are fundamentally changing our expectations in this area. Consequently, business intelligence tools and techniques will need to adapt if they are to continue to flourish and deliver value to the organisations investing so heavily in them.

Antivia’s vision is shaped by these principles. Yes, we are a commercial software company and we are of course very focused on the widespread adoption of our solutions. However, our roots in the very origins of business intelligence enable us to recognise that this new wave has the potential to redefine our industry. We will endeavour to play our part but it is very clear to us that it is only by bringing all interested parties together that we will fully realise the benefits that BI 2.0 and its like have to offer.

The community hosted by this website will not achieve this on its own, nor is it intended to do so. It is simply our means of connecting with the broader network of individuals, companies and organisations who all have a vested interest in what business intelligence of the future can be.
