Three Northern companies have revealed how they're working together to deliver productivity and efficiency gains in the social housing sector. With the government's plans to develop a 'Northern Powerhouse' to redress the North-South economic imbalance, this is a good example of how northern companies can work together successfully to deliver value in the region.
Antivia, a Leeds-based business intelligence software company, and Musgrave Analytics, a Sheffield-based boutique analytics firm, have been working with Together Housing Group, a leading northern-based social housing group, to develop and deliver a performance management framework.
The framework provides an easy way for staff at all levels across Together Housing Group to get a consistent view of the numbers that drive their success. These numbers include return on capital employed, repair and maintenance costs, average re-let days and projected annual turnover.
Together Housing is a group of six individual housing associations across the north. Bringing together and making use of all the disparate data they collect has been invaluable, as Mark Dunford, Executive Group Director of Resources, at the Together Housing Group, explained: "The framework that Musgrave Analytics helped us develop and the dashboards created with Antivia's DecisionPoint™ give clarity to staff and stakeholders as to what we mean by 'delivering high performance', one of our key values. It also helps us to assess whether we are achieving our corporate goal of delivering brilliant services."
The team at Musgrave Analytics are experts at collecting, analysing and interpreting data and were in charge of putting the framework together to enable Together Housing to drive productivity and efficiency gains.
Antivia's DecisionPoint™ enables non-technical people to create sophisticated, interactive business dashboards and was used to visualise the data Musgrave Analytics prepared in a format that everyone at Together Housing could understand and easily work with. These easy to use dashboards have made performance scores, operational and financial metrics and asset management data far more accessible to staff at all levels of Together Housing Group.
As all three companies are based in the North of England working together has been easy, and Together Housing has been able to get a world-class performance management framework by sourcing everything it needed right here on its doorstep.
Mark Hudson, CEO of Antivia, said: "We're happy to be part of a strong knowledge economy in the north, and it's great to work with our local partner, Musgrave Analytics, to help Together Housing Group enhance its performance management reporting. As a result of this collaboration, Together Housing Group now has a suite of easy to use dashboards that everyone in their organisation can understand and work with to get the information they need."
Simon Musgrave, CEO of Musgrave Analytics, said: "It's been great for us to work with the team at Together Housing to deliver their performance management framework, a key component in their VFM (Value for Money) submission. When it comes to data management and analytics it's clear that we have the right skills and expertise within the region, so northern organisations don't have to look further afield to get the job done."
